Keybridge House in Vauxhall is a landmark development, destined to become a standout feature of one of London’s most vibrant new neighbourhoods. This ambitious project comprises 460 stunning new homes, including studio flats, one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, all set within a picturesque one-acre open space.
Proplant Scaffolding has been involved in this transformative development since its inception, delivering a comprehensive scaffolding package over the course of four years. Now in its final phase, the project has included full perimeter façade scaffolding for a total of eight buildings, including three impressive high-rise towers standing at 19, 24, and 38 storeys respectively.
Overcoming Complex Challenges with Innovative Solutions
Due to the unique nature of the project, our team was tasked with designing scaffolding that could bridge over the low-rise buildings to create a secure base for the high-rise scaffolding. This bespoke design enabled us to safely and efficiently erect scaffolding that extended to the full height of the towers, demonstrating our ability to adapt to complex architectural and structural challenges.
One of the most significant obstacles was the location of the two tallest blocks, which sit directly adjacent to and above the busy overground railway line leading into Waterloo Station. To mitigate risks in this high-traffic area, we implemented Combi Safe protection nets on every floor, ensuring materials remained secure and preventing debris from falling to the ground. Additionally, all tools used on the project were tethered in accordance with our rigorous Health and Safety policies, further minimising risks and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Efficiency in Design and Construction
Each of the eight buildings featured separate loading bays and hoist gantries to facilitate the seamless transportation of materials to each floor as needed. The main hoist gantry for the 38-storey tower was constructed as part of the project’s first phase. Recognising the importance of efficiency, we designed and erected the scaffolding in a way that allowed the hoist to be lowered two floors at a time during dismantling. This innovative approach significantly reduced dismantling times, streamlining the final stages of the project.
Commitment to Safety and Quality
Health and safety have been at the forefront of our work on Keybridge House. From the initial design phase to the final scaffolding dismantling, our team has adhered to the highest safety standards, ensuring a secure environment for workers, residents, and the surrounding area. By combining cutting-edge design with meticulous attention to detail, we have contributed to the successful completion of this extraordinary development.
Keybridge House exemplifies Proplant Scaffolding’s ability to handle complex, large-scale projects with precision and professionalism. This development stands as a testament to our expertise in delivering innovative scaffolding solutions that prioritise safety, efficiency, and quality at every stage.
